A Veterinary Clinic for the Coachella Valley Animal Campus

For the past 30 years, Animal Samaritans has provided its spay/neuter and veterinary services for the greater Coachella Valley and High Desert area out of a 3,000 square foot building located on Ramon Road in Thousand Palms. While painstakingly maintained to veterinary standards, the run-down and over-crowded building is bursting at the seams, posing daily challenges for staff, as well as human and animal clients.

We are always so busy... there is never enough space! Sometimes, our waiting list is 2 to 3 months long.

Animal Samaritans performs more spay/neuter surgeries than any other clinic in the Coachella Valley, employing state-of-the-art equipment, medicines and medical practices. Last year, while operating at maximum capacity (often six days a week), we spayed/neutered 8,353 animals, vaccinated 24,924 dogs and cats and implanted microchips in 787 pets.

And that's just the tip of the cat's tail.

With a new Veterinary Clinic, we will be able to more than double the number of spay/neuter surgeries we perform, as well as significantly increase services to low-income pet owners and their families. And, to ensure that no one is turned away and to reduce feral cat overpopulation, our goal is to expand subsidized services and care for qualifying individuals and rescue organizations. Our current facility will be used to expand shelter needs until the next phase of an expanded Animal Center can be built.

Located on five acres adjacent to City/County Animal Services on the Coachella Valley Animal Campus, our new 7,360 square foot Veterinary Clinic will include a spacious lobby area designated for cats and dogs, two surgery suites, examination rooms, preparation and dental areas, a laboratory and pharmacy, X-ray room, isolation and overnight hospital areas, and comfortable recovery accommodations. (A description of these areas is included on the Floor Plan.)

The building is designed to have the highest energy efficiency standards. Solar tubes used throughout the building will supply natural daylight and reduce the use of electricity. Paint, caulking and other compounds will be Greenguard indoor air quality certified for low chemical emissions. Energy Star appliances and equipment will be used throughout and a solar electric power system on the roof will convert sunlight to power for the building. Drought-resistant landscaping will help conserve water. Ample on-site parking will be available.
