CRITTER CAMP TEACHES CHILDREN ANIMAL CARE AND COMPASSION
THOUSAND PALMS, CA - (August 18, 2007) - Critter Camp is a partnership with The Family YMCA of the Desert in Palm Springs and Animal Samaritans SPCA. Humane Education staff members from Animal Samaritans teach children about different kinds of animals and how to care for pets. Children will visit with live animals, help with a service project, attend a field trip, play animal-themed games, and create animal art. This session will also include a special visit from Indio Animal Shelter Manager Scott Bramer, who will be bringing live rattle snakes, and discussing how to be safe around snakes.
The week long program for children ages 5 through 12 runs August 6 - 10, Monday through Friday. Hours are 8:00am - 12:00pm. The cost is $80 dollars per week for members of YMCA of the Desert; for non-members the price is $90. For an additional $30 dollars, parents may have their children stay at the YMCA until 5:00pm in conjunction with the YMCA's regular Day Camp.
