Humane Education

Animal Samaritans' Humane Education Program teaches children and adults the skills and knowledge necessary to properly care for animals, and helps instill a lifelong sense of responsibility and respect for all living things.

Animal Samaritans in the schools: Our program is designed to prepare and empower the next generation with the knowledge and compassion necessary to provide for the animals that will be left in their care. Our staff visits roughly 14,000 local school children each year, from Palm Springs to Mecca. We have established a long and successful partnership with the Coachella Valley Unified School District's 21st Century After-School Program, and enjoy presenting to children and adults from area Community Groups such as Shelter from the Storm and YMCA of the Desert.

The message of Animal Samaritans' annual Walk with the Animals is "Stamp Out Animal Cruelty." Proceeds from the annual walk support Animal Samaritans' Humane Education Department. To sign up or become a supporting sponsor visit our Events & Programs page.

Each quarter, our Humane Education Department produces a Paws and Tails Newsetter for children in both English and Spanish.
